Immersed in the haunting emotion of Gordon Lightfoot's iconic ballad ‘If You Could Read My Mind,’ award winning Canadian Folk-Country troubadour Lisa Richard brings you on an introspective musical journey through miscommunication and heartbreak. The studio recording was inspired by a standing ovation from peers and fans at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival. Scott Ferguson of FMP Matrix (producing, mixing, mastering, drums), Warren Robert (orchestral arrangements, lead guitar) and Dana Westall (bass) joined Richard on the recording to create a magically cohesive sound.

New Mills, New Brunswick born and Halifax, Nova Scotia based, Lisa Richard is at home in front of an audience with her guitar. Whether she is performing at a community fundraiser to showcasing at the East Coast Music awards or sharing the stage with Vince Gill and the Time Jumpers, Lisa Richard captivates listeners with her powerful vocal range, inspiring story and true passion for music and life. Her cover of ‘Jolene,’ which was performed in Nashville, alongside Vince Gill and The Time Jumpers has reached over 140,000 people online.

Richard is regarded as “a soulful Anne Murray” (Devon O’Day) and her vocal stylings have also been compared to the likes of Cher, Wynonna Judd and Tracy Chapman. Richard’s genre extends across folk, country, pop and rock and she's performed for audiences across North America and Europe.

They say heroes come in different uniforms, and for Lisa Richard, that truth holds profound significance. Her song Uniforms (Promises Kept) was born from her personal experience surviving a near-fatal accident. It pays homage to the heroes who come into our lives and leave an indelible imprint.

“Life has its ups and downs, and we all get a chance to choose how we respond and react to situations,” says Richard. “‘Sunday Confession’ (from Promises Kept, co-written with Rick Tiger & Jeff Wanex) is really about letting go of stuff by the end of the week and getting it off your shoulders or you will start the next week with a Monday morning blue.”

Promises Kept is produced by CCMA Hall of Famer Jason Barry & Pumkin’ Patch Studios’ Danny Bourgeois. Uniforms achieved rotation on Sirius XM CBC Country radio and was also featured on WSM Grand Ole Opry radio. Promises Kept was nominated for the 2022 Country Recording of the Year at the Music Nova Scotia Music Awards and Lisa Richard was nominated for Country Artist of the Year in 2018. ‘Uniforms’ was named the 2018 CIOE East Coast Music #1 song of the year.

Lisa Richard has won the CBC Searchlight Top 10 Regional Contest (Nova Scotia) and was a nominee for multiple Josie Music Awards and International Singer Songwriters Association Awards. She’s recently showcased at NewSkool Rules in the Netherlands as well as the 2023 East Coast Music Awards, 2023 CCMA Music Awards and 2023 Stan Rogers Folk Festival. Lisa looks forward to showcasing at the 2024 East Coast Music Awards.

Her voice, deep and powerful, lends itself well to the Janis Joplin songs that she has become known for performing.

Lisa has a powerful voice, with a deep richness. Her songs come from the heart and she loves what she does, and it shows in every song. She can go from Fisherman’s Daughter right into Me & Bobby McGee.

Tangled Up’ has a barebones live off the floor sound. It’s roots music at its core; it shadows country/blues, and has a keen pop sensibility... Her voice is kind of a mesh of Janis, as in Joplin, meets Cher’s vibrato sound...
