[regarding Whiskey Over Me]
My goodness that’s strong! Congratulations!
— Ranger Doug (Douglas B. Green), Grammy Award winner, The Time Jumpers, Riders In The Sky
We love to play Lisa’s toe-tapping, finger-snapping, inspirational with impactful, catchy lyrics! She sings from the bottom of her toes!
— Tara Taylor - ArtnSoul Report (CBC Information Morning - Halifax)
Lisa Richard’s rendition of the Lightfoot classic is true to the original tempo-wise. However, the arrangement sounds fresh and her heart-felt vocal is both strong and stellar!
— Paul Kennedy, Seaside FM
Lisa has a powerful voice, with a deep richness. Her songs come from the heart and she loves what she does, and it shows in every song. She can go from Fisherman’s Daughter right into Me & Bobby McGee.
— Wayne Schnare CIOE 97.5 FM
It must be a daunting task to tackle an iconic song like “If You Could Read My Mind”, but Lisa Richard does so beautifully. Staying true to the original, she perfectly captures the wistfulness and melancholy of the song but puts her own stamp on it with her powerful vocals, a gorgeous arrangement, and the playing of collaborator Warren Robert of course. It is a truly lovely and fitting tribute to the master - Gordon Lightfoot.
— Norm Amirault Manager, QCCR Radio 99.3 FM
...a fantastic home-grown artist that must be given a listen. And for those whom are so lucky, they will... be reminded that music with true soul... is surely alive and well.
— Wynn Curtis - Gig & Groove Magazine
Her voice, deep and powerful, lends itself well to the Janis Joplin songs that she has become known for performing.
— Denise Surette, Bedford - Sackville Observer
Lisa’s version of this iconic song is as genuine as it gets, with a flawless arrangement, bravo!
— Todd Veinotte - CityNews Halifax
‘Tangled Up’ has a barebones live off the floor sound. It’s roots music at its core; it shadows country/blues, and has a keen pop sensibility... Her voice is kind of a mesh of Janis, as in Joplin, meets Cher’s vibrato sound...
— Jeff Liberty CBC
Lisa is one of the most friendly, caring and professional entertainers we know. Her enthusiasm in telling her story, and the story behind her songs, is contagious. It is impossible not to enjoy your time with Lisa. She works extremely hard, and puts everything into her show. Lisa appeals to our customers who range in age from 19 to 90. We are lucky that she loves us as much as we love her.
— Meryl Diane Atkinson The Henley House Pub & Restaurant
Lisa’s new single ‘Whiskey Over Me’ has all the makings of a great song: strong delivery, punchy groove, plenty of ear candy, and more hooks than a well-attended crochet convention!
— Dave Carroll
The magic behind Lisa Richard’s heartfelt songwriting is the authenticity that oozes from every note; her vocal prowess delivers on the melody, unearthing what matters most to each of us. Matched with her ability to write a track that is equal parts catchy as it is sincere, “News You Can Use” is another capturing of the moments that matter the most. Richard is spellbinding, and captivating; coercing you to swim in nostalgia, and you appreciate the world at present.
— CASHBOX Canada
Patrons... were more than vocal about their wishes for her to extend her stay. Of course, due to other responsibilities, she couldn’t. But that’s the kind of magnetism that the talent of Lisa Richard’s performances command. On occasion, we can easily recognize that we’ve witnessed a good performance when we don’t want the show to end. This particular time was definitely one of those moments.
— Wynn Curtis - Gig & Groove Magazine
‘Born To Shine’ has a really nice melodic guitar on it, something that you’d hear in the Beatles poppier songs, very simple and effective with beautiful harmonies...
— Jeff Liberty CBC
When you find that one person that sticks out everyone wants to jump in to help because they can see it....
— Amanda Monahan, National Country Review Magazine
Sharing your beautiful voice made all the difference that evening. We greatly appreciated the support you provided for the event.
— Joanne Boudreau, President, Fultz Corner Restoration Society
